To prevent yourself from getting used or to protect your heart, there are people you have to love from a DISTANCE! This does NOT mean that you don’t love them nor for you to mistreat them. You just can’t allow yourself to be emotionally attached to their attitudes, behaviors or words. You must know that TRUST is NOT given freely, it’s EARNED! A person must PROVE themselves (through the course of time, experiences, & close examination) that they are QUALIFIED for your trust or heart. Just because you may be a nice, caring & trusting person to somebody, NEVER assume that they will be that SAME way towards you. You STILL investigate them! It does NOT make you less than a Christian either! The Bible tells us to try (test) their spirit by His Spirit & do NOT be quick to give your approval to those who had not earned it. Be prayerful concerning your dealings with people. Ask God to help you to be more responsible & discerning with your trust & your heart. Forgive them & love from AFAR even those who are CLOSE!!
