Daily Devotion for December 29, 2016
Yesterday, I took my son & his cousin to go eat. We were seated near the back of the restaurant. Some time later, a server was walking an older white couple by us and was seating them near us. I smiled & spoke to them but they didn’t speak or look my way. The older lady whispered to the server, then they IMMEDIATELY turned around & were escorted to the opposite area of us. All of this took place in front on my 11 year old son & his 14 year old cousin. I used that experience to have a teachable moment about racism. I told them… NEVER CHANGE OR BE ASHAMED OF WHO YOU ARE BECAUSE OF THE IGNORANCE OF OTHERS! If they (or anyone) don’t like (or acknowledge) you because of your race, you don’t get outside of YOUR character. Be proud of who you are & how God made you! You just PRAY for them & continue to be RESPECTFUL towards them. You are NOT the one with the problem, THEY ARE! I love & appreciate the young man God made me & blessed me to be. Besides being a father to my child, I am a CHILD of GOD!! You may see the hate of racism, BUT make sure the LOVE of God is MORE EXPOSED!!!
